Grace Maxine Glan, formerly of Decatur but more recently of Heyworth, IL passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2011 after a long illness.
A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Decatur. A visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel, Decatur. Memorials may be made to the Heyworth Summer League in Heyworth, IL or the Heyworth Public Library. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.
Maxine was born August 30, 1924 just outside of Dalton City, IL, the daughter of Charlie Benson and Nellie Mable (Campbell) Rule. She was a graduate of Bethany High School. She enjoyed reading and baseball and was a Cardinal’s fan. Maxine especially enjoyed bragging on her grandkids.
She married Francis Dwight Glan on November 5, 1949. He preceded her in death, July 19, 1981.
Maxine is survived by her children; Connie Heinz and her husband Terry of Argenta, IL, Mark Glan and his wife Barbara of Ocoee, Florida, Jeff and his wife Kate of Decatur, IL, Cynde Glan of Decatur, IL, Charlyn Wallace and her husband Tim of Oakford, IL and Matthew Glan and his wife Rhonda of Heyworth, IL, grandchildren; Laura Bieller and her husband Greg, of Pekin, IL, Michelle Buxton and her husband Lee of Champaign, IL, Wade Heinz of Champaign, IL, Therisa Emberton and her husband Toby of Decatur, IL, Brant Glan of Decatur, IL, Bethanie Glan of Decatur, IL, Leigh Wallace of Oakford, IL, Austin Glan and Grace Glan both of Heyworth, IL, nine great-grandchildren and brother; Bill Rule and his wife Mary Alice of Decatur, IL.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Bob Rule and sister Opal Warren.
